The Yanks are somewhat odd with their description.
Tube = A pipe, smarties, inner part of toilet roll
Plate= Something to eat your dinner off.
Schematic= Old Hoover automatic washing machine
Trunk= often found on nelliphants
AM Radio= A Radio that always goes faulty in the afternoon
NTSC= We all know that one
Hood= For keeping the engine dry
Pants= What over your trousers.
