Of course I have the model number wrong, its a BA228, perhaps to avoid confusion the Mods could correct my post.
Well, restoration went well. Had to re-cord both the tuning cap drive and the pointer drive. Then they have to be connected together in the right place. Its a bit tricky.
The repaired transformer is holding up well despite the tenuous connections to the winding. Did away with the 2 pin mains connector on the chassis rear,it was broken anyway and I had no socket /lead for it. I have fitted a permanent 2 core mains lead, no earth to chassis as original. With the back in place there is no exposed metal that the user can come into contact with.
I found many of the valve holder sockets to be a poor grip on the valve pins but they responded to careful re-tensioning. Odd positioning of the frequency changer hanging down under the chassis when all the rest are conventional on top, I am surprised that this valve stayed in the holder when the set was used and put down a little heavily, there is no retainer.
Found some lilliput bulbs on ebay, I have some spare if anyone needs any. The control flap now opens and closes well, it had grown in length because the distance between the screw holes for the tuning scale are also slightly too far apart. Seems plastic can grow!
Case cleaned up quite well, at least the handle is still solid and undamaged, this is quite a heavy set.
Just need that white outer knob and its all done. So that will be it for this year, its away for winter on Friday by a big silver bird flying south.
