It works very well, Gary!
I've only used it on smallish items, comparable to what most folk here would do* but a friend used it to cover a cabinet similar in size to a VOX AC30 (2 x 12" speakers) whilst another used it on a massive cabinet - we used to call it 'The Shed'! - housing one 18" speaker on a very large baffle.
Both used the fan heater trick - both of them for the first time, I should point out - with perfect results.
The largest I've done is a speaker cabinet to a Goodmans design for a 10" speaker which, I think, measured 500 x 800mm
The cabinet shell was made from mahogany veneered contiplas which was cut to size by the local DIY shed but Goodmans insisted on a 19mm baffle and back.
There was no way I wanted an 8' x 4' sheet of the stuff, particularly as I was dependent on public transport at the time, but I found a small outlet who would cut to size.
As a precaution I converted the metric measurements to imperial (this was over 40 years ago!) and saw the look of relief on the guy's face when I offered him the choice. Of course my list of measurements ended " ... by three-quarters."
"Oh, it'll have to be 19mm, I'm afraid - it's all decimal now!"
At this point I burst into laughter ...
