And I'm impressed with the quality of that photo - was that with "macro mode" enabled?
Hopefully the next set will be a bit easier to work on. When it comes to valves radios, I'm relatively inexperienced with them, but where possible, I stick to Hacker Mayflowers because of their tag-strip construction which makes serving a lot easier than most.
I was given some help by a gorgeous blond in a library and she showed me how to change the size of a pic using a Paint-shop Program.
Apart from listening to the cricket, I haven't done any extensive testing to see how many bands I can receive. This is because I had the radio propped on my bed on a board and had to turn the flywheel manually. The aerial was just a threadbare wire I hooked up to another copper wire on my roof. However, I was really very pleased to hear it back in action as you can imagine. The worry was that the X78 Triode Hexodes are a mega expensive tube to replace should one be faulty because they're becoming rarer.
P.S. I think it was last Friday I did get a bit of a fright. I was doing a voltage test on the suspect electrolytic can. The meter probe was connected to chassis and I touched the red probe to the H.T. cap. A resulting huge spark and a pop made me jump out of my skin. That never happened before.
