I found out George Martin produced one of the first albums by America called "Holiday". I think he did a really terrific job on that. I seem to recall the use of a similar sound effect that was used at the very end of Penny Lane and there are some nice intro scores worked into the album. Plus, the band wrote some really great songs. Strangely I have this album only on 8 Track so I play it on 8 Track but the audio quality isn't that brilliant.
I have a few of George Harrison's solo albums as well and think maybe the media was a bit hard on his solo work as some of his material was enjoyable and stuff he'd had on hold because the other Beatles limited his contribution a bit.
I'm afraid I don't have a great deal of time for modern music and miss the concept of being able to follow an actual group like The Stones, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and so on.
