OK Jeffrey - when I open the box 'Mail' is immediately visible as the first icon on the top LH of the two rows of ten icons. However, 'Print' isn't visible - it's seventh from the left on the bottom row on my i-pad, but I guess from what you're saying, even if you swipe the icons to reveal the hidden ones, the 'Print' one still doesn't appear.
If that's so, at the far right of the lower line you'll see 'More'. If you touch that, a drop down menu should appear, where hopefully, among other things' 'Print' should be there.
I don't think a printer has to even be present (for the i-pad to sense its presence via wi-fi) for the icon to be there - it's all part of the operating system whther or not a printer actually exists. If the icon is missing completly, that seems very odd.
