Airprint problem

I'm presently away from home at my son's house Jeffrey,  so am using my i-pad for internet access. All of the computers/phones that my son and his family use are Apple and I don't have any problem printing wirelessly on their printer. Not sure how much you know about printing from an i-pad, so apolgies in advance if I'm telling you something that you already know but having tried that, you still can't get it to work: 

At the top RH of the screen next to the address line there's a little box with a blue outline (about 5mm or so square). In the centre right at the top of the box is an up arrow. If you touch the box with your finger it will open up a sub menu of icons which  includes 'mail', 'print' and some bits of nonsense such as twitter and facebook. All I need to do is touch the screen on 'print', and the printer shows up and asks if I want single or double sided. (you might have to 'swipe' the sub menu to the left or right with your finger to get the print icon to appear).
