13 year old PC with bulgy caps? Is it really worth fixing? Unless you have a good reason for keeping what is likely a Pentium 4 then why bother. Good reasons might include an interest in older hardware. A need for ports and expansion slots that aren't found on newer PCs such as serial, parallel and PCI. Yes, PCI slots are legacy, the HPs from Unrealdave only have 1 of them.
It's always worth having more than 1 usable PC around. Although I have several PCs doing different jobs I'll probably be using the HP from Unrealdave to shadow my main PC, giving me a hot reserve with everything up to date. Also as an experimental platform so if I trash the installation it won't matter. Reminds me that I want to ask some questions about virtual machines. New thread coming up.
