You forgot the special screws that you attach to the new drive. These are provided by HP - screwed in to the chassis, often behind the front panel molding. There are two types - M3, which are black, and 3-32 types, which are natural in colour. The former are for optical drives; the latter for hard drives. They take a flat blade screwdriver, or a T15 driver.

From what I can see on page 4, the screws are on the side of the chassis in the drive cage rather than behind the front panel. Possibly the first time I've seen them anywhere other than on the front panel.
But not wishing to detract from the point - adding an optical drive (or two) is trivial. HP/Compaq have always made these sorts of a jobs a pleasure.
