Yes, I've been leaning towards that as well. It's why I asked about the magnetising current - if that shoots up when the variac reaches "120 plus a bit", then that would be pretty conclusive.
The Philips schematic might not show details of the primary windings, but it does show a centre-tapped secondary for HT. I agree that 312-0-312 could be much more like it.
Something else that points this way - I note that windings 1 and 2 are at the same end of the transformer, and 3, 4 and 5 are at the other end. Not a definite indicator, but a clue nonetheless.
