The cabinet looks basic and does not reveal its fantastic contents until it is set to one side. It is Rexine over plywood but in very good condition for its age.
I was thinking of a theater or dance hall where the groups that hire it bring there own audio equipment and need to quickly connect up without fumbling about at the back of the set.
For domestic use the connectors would be at the back surely.
I feel that the cabinet should be retained as the home it is to be used in has young children living there so it is a case of safety first. The cabinet needs to be retained.
