According to the trader sheet for that GEC radio the voltage readings were taken using a high impedance electronic voltmeter.

Well spotted. Using an avo then could be confusing if you're not aware of the differences. I use a Fluke in the workshop and the readings are usually much in line with an old Taylor VVM.
