Hi.
The re-stuffing of the EHT smoother is actually quite straight forward. Essentially all you are doing is to cut around the bottom of the bakelite at the alloy base with a hacksaw.
I removed the seal and washer from the positive EHT connection as I knew I had to drill a hole as near to the connection to feed the lead from the new cap to the upper-side of the tube to make a connection.
Make sure you remove all of the old cap once you have the bottom removed and clean out the old oil and thoroughly clean everything. I drilled a hole in the alloy base for the new caps lead for its earth, this can be held in place once the cap is re bolted to the chassis. I wrapped the cap in corrugated card before inserting it into the tube.
