This dosen't really apply to the radio in this thread but looking back at your post no. 31 you mentioned fitting an inline 300mA fuse.
Some may disagree but if you are using a lamp limiter (I use a 60 watt bulb) then you dont need any additional fuse other fuse than the 2 or 3 amp fuse in the plugtop. If there is a short in the radio the current will be limited by the lamp anyway.
A very bright continuous lit bulb = serious short in wiring to radio or in radio itself.
A little flash of orange light on the lamp limiter, then getting dimmer and then slowly increasing to an orange glow is fairly normal for a valve radio with valve type rectifier.
