I had a brief look at that excellent Thread when it was posted and have just done the same again but this time I spotted the bit on pitch encapsulation.
Putting a pitched potted Xformer in the oven would be terrible trouble with SWMBO for me, and I bet for others. Even if I did it when she was out for the day she would know. I tried it once and her sense of smell picked it up as she came in the front door even though I had ventilated all day. Then she spotted a tiny speck of pitch that I had missed on her gleaming white oven ...
But there is another and better way. Drop the item in White Spirit and leave a couple of days. Then using gloves brush off the worst and repeat with fresh Spirit until clean.
