Here's a good example as to why Maplin are no longer these days my primary port of call.

Yes, that's 39p per resistor, and commercial suicide bearing in mind that I can get the same resistor off of an Ebay supplier for a fraction of the cost. The other main issue is distance, it is quicker and easier for me to order parts on the net that I know will take a couple of days tops to turn up at the door than burn petrol for a 30 mile round trip plus parking fee's on top just for a couple of pence worth of resistors. Finally, it's a question of stock, and the Maplin stores are notorious for no keeping in stock what they are supposed to have as a base item.
I'll stick to online ordering to be honest, cheaper on my pocket, but if Maplin want to survive they will need to embrace the online sales more and be realistic with their pricing.
