I remember a story of the foxhole radio some years ago but have forgotten where I read it. It referenced the QST article and Jack Gould's book (which incidentally was my first radio book and is probably around here somewhere. The only other plans I had were in the Cub Scout handbooks and were essentially useless for lack of critical details. I could never get a crystal set to work despite living near some large broadcast stations, and no one in my family knew anything about radio).
