Again, thanks for your advice guys. I'll be cap shopping today applying all the good experience I have gleaned from yourselves, gonna replace the AF117's as well.
The Hacker I bought was the Sovereign II RP25, looks totally original and described as fully working, which will be nice so I can use it immediately whilst gaining more knowledge about the radio world. Very enjoyable but time consuming already but a good way to get over a recent operation that limits my physical activity for a while. I'm maybe getting to keen too quick but I'm also on the hunt for a nice pocket size radio with FM, the new ones do the job I'm sure, for around £17 but thats not the point is it?
What would be the tolerances expected measuring voltages across the circuit? I can only find a MKI service manual and my readings do differ a bit with those but all within 10% or so, I never wrote them down.
