Yes, there are utilities out there that will remove junk from a PC. But you can do a lot yourself to remove such unwanteds.
1. Have a look in all the 'temp' directories on your HDD. Delete the contents of those temp. dirs.: all files you find (incl. the contents of sub - dirs., etc.) , but if Windows bleats that a certain file must remain, do not delete it.
2. Have a look at the Temporary Internet sub - dir.: delete the contents of that sub - dir. and the contents of all its sub - sub - dirs.
The above is what I have been regularly doing for several years now on a number of systems that all run Windows 2000 + SP4. Never encountered any subsequent problems in performing the above actions.
