Thanks for the info, Refugee. I'd forgotten about that Tesco Radio, but it's no doubt similar to the 'XTREME AUDIO WB007' I've seen on eBay (and a great many others as well!) Personally I have a Brandt RS902, now maybe 13 or 14 years old, which works very well on all bands, the only drawback being a fiddly little switch to select the desired SW band.
This set gave a good account of itself in a rural part of South Africa a couple of years ago. If it were still available I'd recomment it to the person who enquired about World service reception.
