Still use nets at the front but the lower ones are shielded by a 'logia' (that's what the architect called it !). Upstairs do get the sun but modern materials and washing with the right stuff and they stay white a long time ... then get changed. The latest way of putting them up is Velcro sewn on the curtains and adhesive fixed (Boy! does it stick) on the UPVC.
Here's a pic of the new ones for the new windows, complete with sequins that sparkle. My choice, I like a bit of bling.
No nets or blinds at back as not overlooked.
Glass cuts out UVB but not UVA as I remember it so you wont go brown behind it but it is still skin damaging. UVA is very penetrating. Saw a prog on lorry drivers, the skin on the right arm wasn't overly burnt but in tests was still skin damaged.
