I have been looking into using a Raspberry Pi to work as a CD player using cheap disposable computer CD/DVD drives. The idea being that the thing would go into a matching cabinet along side a pair of valve mono block amplifiers.
Not having to re engineer the cabinet every time the CD drive dies is a massive advantage.
The media player software looks like it needs an expensive display that will be another big part.
