Very true Joe; the phone not working is one less source of hassle or it should be but in this case it's caused considerable hassle and even generated a lot of interesting discussion on the forum. Who needs Twitter and Facebook etc when we can ramble on here?
Thanks for posting the video Lawrence; give me a big BMW 750cc bike with full fairing and by the time this guy has finished finding out his vehicle is left unlocked or where the nearest chippy is I'll already have reached my destination? Is your Land Rover like the one in the video Lawrence; the one you pull trees out with?
It's interesting to learn that even with all this electronic magic available these days that the UK kids whilst at school are estimated to be three years behind similar kids living in China; I heard this snippet between sport on TV the other morning. Helicopters are falling from the sky and a plane full of passengers has sadly gone missing; has over use of electronics rendered the helicopters unsafe and if electronics are so brilliant where is the plane? Just examples but closer to home what about £100 a time or more just for a circuit board for a washing machine or a hobby lathe? It's all going mad; I do like a lot of aspects of modern technology after all I'm here on the forum and I use emails a great deal. I'm not remotely interested in Twitter or Facebook because I already spend too much time on my computer; the electronics companies have most people brain washed into must buy products hot on the streets like queuing miles to buy the latest mobile phone; I don't blame these companies in the least and it's up to the individual what to spend money on but I hope I never get sucked in to being suckered; being a tight Yorkshireman has it's benefits.
Cars are generally more reliable than they have ever been in the past but are now considered throw away items because once they get a few years old the electronics repairs start to cost more than the car is worth; I wonder how many modern common cars will be classics in 50 years time; I reckon very few indeed because they will have been re-cycled?
How many go into deep debt to try to keep up these days thinking they are losing out because things like their mobile phone is ancient because its two months old and a newer more complicated model has been released; this applies to so many modern things these days pushed by constant marketing.

I've never been a vindictive person out for revenge when crossed so I'll let this phone problem run hoping it will come right in the end however if the road doesn't come up as suggested I will indeed be contacting the CEO at Virgin; I still don't like the way Bron and I have been so shoddily treated by Virgin Media but we are fair enough to give Virgin Media the chance to put things right once again; I make lots of silly mistakes so try to be understanding when these things go wrong after all considering the number of things constantly going wrong in our lives this phone problem is just another to add to the list.
Fortunately we are not too bothered about money and as Joe rightly says the phone being down is one less area of contact bringing more hassle our way.
I'm sorry to learn of your disabled sister's problems Colin and hope all is now fully sorted; it's hard enough trying to cope with illness and disability but such problems as these don't help; I'm pleased I'm here in such circumstances to sort these problems out because Bron would be lost having no interest in electronics of any kind.
My elbow is easing off again so I might fight the gale and spend a bit of time in the garage this afternoon; if I close the doors; don't turn on the lights and don't make any noise I wonder if I will be left alone to concentrate on the Lorch restoration; I sure can't spray paint today given the wind coming up the valley.
Right; time I put on an episode of Dallas and have dinner after all we now have the new TV and DVD player.
Just spotted your post Joe; dinner might be over today before I access the episode of Dallas we want to watch; it takes forever pressing this and pressing that by which time when the picture pops onto the screen I almost fall from the sofa in shock.
