Col, I have two Samsung TVs and am very pleased with both. Nikon is a good make and I think you've done well with the camera purchase. As for Lithium batteries, I've used them in camera for years and so far, no trouble - though one did fail on me (a branded one, probably a Nikon!) by swelling and stopping me fitting it in the camera. I've bought several no-name ones and again had no problems, this far at least. I'm about to do a search on the internet to see if I can find the brand of batteries mentioned by Colin (Camallison) as they sound promising.
I often watched Brian Rix and Espeth Gray in their TV farces, great fun. Simpler times, though. Or was it just me who was simple - who shouted 'still are'?
I didn't know Ian Carmichael was related to the Hull store proprietors. I knew the store in the 1950s when I made quite frequent visits to Hull, where my brother lived. Ian Carmichael was great in 'Lucky Jim', the film of the Kingsley Amis book. Great character actor.
