Hi,
Thanks Big Al. After the huge amount of work and time that has gone into getting the Lorch bed clear of oil and old paint I'm unsure whether to make a glass display case to show it of as an exhibit or to apply new paint and use it? When I first bought this lathe I thought a good clean up would be all that was needed; I've now got another full blown restoration saga on my hands.
I got up early this morning with the intention of getting into the garage to mask all the stripped lathe bits then after dinner start to spray on the cellulose primer? I've just been outside and with perfect timing the wind is coming up the valley so spray painting is cancelled for today. Three compressors and at least six assorted spray guns and our dire weather messes with me all the time preventing me from doing so much. I know if I could work in comfort I could produce some good results but the usual wind; rain; snow; hail; thunder; black hole; frost; ice doesn't help; strange how I can expect any adverse weather conditions but can I get a single warm dry day for a change? On top of this I'm once again depressed after switching on our TV to watch the news; I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE WORLD CUP SQUAD!!! The TV was immediately switched off. Sport lovers will possibly think I over react but I'm just sick of seeing sport on our TV every time I switch it on; I've already stopped watching BBC news on both 101 and 601 channels but now sport is tormenting me on 602 channel. How good of North Yorkshire Council to suddenly find £4 million to repair roads for a cycle race; it's a shame this money couldn't have been found sooner to repair the deep hole which has just resulted in the death of a cyclist; sport sure sorts out priorities.

Yes I'm moaning but I'm fed up; the bit of news I do occasionally see is usually two countries at war or a murder trial which would make a very good Brian Rix farce; what has the world come to?

I feel much better after the moan so I need to change my plans for today; I can still mask the lathe items ready for paint but I'll now have a look on eBay for a replacement camera; I might get lucky at this time of day because not as many will be online bidding on eBay? Cleaning the camera lens; removing and re-installing the card; resetting to factory default and new batteries haven't made any difference to my camera.
Kind regards, Col.
