Digital camera fault.

Many thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions.

I've played around with the camera a bit today and it still takes washed out pictures so I believe Mark is correct in that the camera is faulty. This camera wasn't cheap when I bought it and in a way can be compared to buying expensive or cheap?

I've owned my dirt cheap Vivitar 3.2 Mega Pixels camera for many years costing only £16 second hand through eBay which at that time was about half new price; this Vivitar is still working perfectly whilst this much more expensive Canon is now faulty.

There are thousands of digital cameras on eBay so I think the quickest solution is to buy another camera to save lots of hassle. In the meantime I'll use the Vivitar.

Thanks Al for the picture re-sizing information. For a long time I've simply taken pictures with this Canon and posted onto GF without problem; no re-sizing needed but now I find when I try to post I receive a messages saying file too large.

When I used to use the Vivitar I also used Gimp to re-size and I liked Gimp a great deal because it was easy to understand but then I upgraded my computer just over a year ago running Win 7 64 bit which scuppered Gimp. Gimp will now run with Win 7 but refuses to download as I've just tried it. Office Pro 2003 also had a photo editing function but this too has now disappeared. I've got a pretty new Canon MG6250 all in one printer and this appears to have lots of functions I've not tried; it might re-size pictures for me?

I'll get around to playing around with the cameras but at the moment I'm too busy with the Lorch lathe restoration. Retired and not enough hours in the day? I've had anther full day so time to settle down to a DVD with Bron and this won't be a sports movie?

Thanks Refugee; I used damp cloth to clean the lens but it made no difference; I think the camera is faulty?
