Yes David, it was the post on the other side that prompted me, somewhere in the Archives is one of the most comprehensive books on the subject of potentiometers which I posted some time ago from a major manufacturer (Bourne) Here's the link again for anyone interested.

I don't think the common log pots of yesteryear were true log, just a compromise due to costs?
