Different camera, different lighting, removal of a layer of darker shellac in some areas (including some ebonite pieces), and touch-up of rings of missing finish where wet items had been placed.
Yes, the workmanship that went into these scientific instruments was amazing. Of course the users paid for it whether or not they wanted to. But the instruments suitably impressed the paying customers on luxury liners who were sending radiograms at sea for the first time ever.
