When looking at this booklet on '45 designs for tube amplifiers' the first thing that occurred to me was that the neat drawings were skilfully accomplished using drafting tools, as was the case of course until not many years ago when CAD came into being, rendering tee squares, set squares, compasses and 'Uno' pens all but obsolete. The other thing was that the text was typed on a mechanical typewriter, which - like sewing machines were clearly contrived and skilfully made from hundreds of small individual components. Over the space of a few years, typewriter production steeply declined, supplanted by word processors, to a point at which I believe that typewriters are no longer produced anywhere in the world.
