The cap re-stuffing is very neat, nice to have an eyelet for reinforcement. The Super Steel as a pitch sub is a good tip and I will add it to my tips list, thanks.

Here's where I got the 'Super Steel' from - only £5.55 post free:

Although it's referred to as 'metal filled', there is no mention of that on the pack - it simply refers to 'epoxide resin' 'Bisphenol-A epichlorhyydrin'. Even though it's called 'Super Steel' and says it 'sets like steel' as I said earlier, it isn't conductive at 1,000V AC and a neodymium magnet, which has a tremendously strong pull, doesn't find this stuff the least bit attractive, so from an electrical insulation point of view, I'm content to use it as I would any other two-part epoxy.

The term 'Epoxy Weld' is also used, albeit 'welding' doesn't just mean sticking things firmly together - it means melting the parent material (metal, glass, plastic etc), and fusing the parts together, with welding rod of the same material. Never mind - it's a great product all the same!
