Here's another link about the Programmable ones - http://www.rskey.org/CMS/index.php/7?manufacturer=Compucorp&model=324G+Scientist
Notice that at the top it lists the Batteries as '4 x "D" Alkaline'. That's patently cobblers as the information on the back specifically says Rechargable.
The Motto is 'Don't always believe what you read on the net'.
On the subject of the Batteries in the third Link above, at the bottom, there are pictures of the original Batteries, and they do indeed appear to be 'D' Size, and apparently 4Ah. I find that a bit surprising bearing in mind the vintage, but maybe. Also, I tried putting 4 Ds in and it was a very tight fit, but it was possible. Perhaps I'm wrong. I'm reluctant to fire it up with the Alkaline Cells installed as they're up at 1.6 Volts unloaded. Perhaps it's time to buy 4 Rechargables.
I wish someone would scan a Manual.
