Well remembered Joe; I could dig the other half this year and complete the moat but if I did we would suffer the longest drought on record? I doubt Big Al will ever complete the PYE Joe because he's always helping others out when he's not in his greenhouse?
Once again I became fed up of moaning about the weather so I've just cheered myself up with some garage therapy. I'm so far pleased by my steady progress on this Lorch. I've now started tidying up the tail-stock as seen in the picture. I've even stripped the paint off where accessible leaving just the back; I'll do this when I can pull the car out allowing me to get onto the bench because the tail-stock is easy enough to remove. I've now got a sore thumb with a well worn nail due to all the rubbing with abrasives.
Two of the pictures show why I dislike these belt alligator metal fasteners; on a 1" wide belt they leave a lot to be desired.
One picture shows what a struggle it is to reach the lathe in the rear of the garage but fortunately whilst I'm only rubbing down and cleaning once I reach the lathe I can settle for a session.
As a bonus I installed one of the bands to the Wilmac bandsaw and am delighted the band tracks OK spinning by hand so in spite of the weather I took Bron to a garden center this morning before the rain hit us and I've also enjoyed myself getting dirty in the garage; life can be so good.
