Hi,
I wasn't suggesting a complete restoration of your Pools lathe Joe just a lick of paint. You would need decent workshop facilities to strip it right down and plenty of space plus the enthusiasm to do the work.
I can see your point about not wanting to damage new paint but I'm finding that as I restore and paint my machines I then don't have time to use them as I move on to the next restoration? I still dream of using my shiny new looking Graduate lathe but as you know I'm in the middle of the bandsaw restoration and once this is completed then the Lorch restoration follows.
I like restoring machines and eventually I plan to have a very tidy workshop with all my machines and tools in top order then I'll actually use them in anger. Days are slowly getting longer light wise and in March we alter the clocks again so I'll be able to make a lot of progress?
Your Pools lathe is a nice bit of kit Joe and just the right size for a home workshop; I'll still pester you though to obtain a proper woodturning lathe as well?
Kind regards, Col.

Happiness is a wreck of a cabinet to restore.
