As to the HK transaction, I'm surprised that for such a high value deal to another hemisphere, that the deal didn't include the container being signed for by the recipient, with proper identification.
If I sell something on e-bay, which I've only done about a dozen times, I never send stuff overseas - only to UK buyers, and send stuff tracked and signed for unless it's a low value item - say ten pounds or so. If anyone who buys anything from me for such a low price, and dishonestly claims to have not received it, then the way I see it, is that the value he places on his own honour at no more than a tenner. He can keep the money - my honour is intact. It might sound a quaint and old fashioned view, but then I guess I'm a quaint old fashioned guy!
My book has arrived by the way. (It's 145 A5 pages). The ISBN Number for anyone who might want it is: 978-0-9570635-3-2
At first glance it looks to be a well-researched book, but as has already been said, it's inexplicable that the radio on the cover is a Philips. Huh? (I suspect that it will be a small print run and will soon be out of print).
It puts into perspective what a large outfit Ekco grew to at its zenith. By early 1958 they'd produce a million TVs, and were producing 5,000 a week. How times change - not only did Ekco long since cease producing TVs, Sony - in the 'Land of the Rising Sun' - is out of TV production too.
