Well there's one thing for certain Rob, so many that have now been successfully built and de-bugged along the way that there will be plenty of people to help if you get stuck. Don't forget that those little digital panel meters must not share a ground with the measuring circuit, as I discovered when I built the Radio Bygones/BVWS Cap reformer, which had the circuit wrongly showing a common ground for the meter. I used to know the Sussex designer - the late Mike Rowe, as an acquaintance, as I think you may have done Rob. I remember when he first posted details of his valve tester before it was labelled 'The Sussex'.
I recall sending him a PM saying 'I think you've bred a monster - get ready for the deluge of posts'! Initially Mike designed it for himself as a retirement project and had never anticipated how it would develop, but given the interest in valve testers of all types, and the stupefying prices they fetch, it was almost inevitable the way things would go. Mike is sadly missed, but he left a nice legacy for the vintage radio community by which to be remembered, along with other projects such as the PW Robin frequency counter - an extremely popular project in its day. I use mine often and it never skips a beat.
Good luck with the Sussex Rob. As I recall when I visited you some time back, it was already well underway - the metalwork done, and a transformer from Ed etc.
