As you say, it mirrors the waveform shown in the article and as shown in the video.

Yes and no David...I meant it had the traits of a parabola waveform instead of a sine wave, as Keith has said it will work fine, it reminds me of a convergence waveform a la colour telly.
I don't think you would get a decent sine wave out of the circuit as it stands, you would probably have to couple the the input to the buffer to the tank circuit by inductive means, which wouldn't be practical with the ready made coils used in the design.
It's a nice little design though.
