Nice little circuit, David. There's now a PDF version in The Archive. It's good to see both halves of the double-triodes being used.
I had wondered about trying an ECC85 as I've got loads which are no good in VHF front-ends but may have at least one half that'd manage AF.
Thanks for the compliment on the 'chassis;' It's especially appreciated coming from somebody with your constructional skills.
Here's the finished thing:-
With the volume at minimum there's no audible hum.
