So, on the basis of those things, and the fact that my post was indeed superfluous, since our forum does indeed carry that warning message, I would like my post to be deleted please.

Not in the least upset Al - that's why I stated that I didn't want it to come across as a rant, dismissive or flippant.

I accept of course that your comments were well intended, but the point I wanted to make is that unlike many forums which have a host of rules, which even moderators don't always understand, this forum has only five - all clearly written and unambiguous, with an emphasis on safety and personal responsibility. It is incumbent on users to read, understand and comply with the rules.

A high proportion of the posts on the forum involve working on equipment with potentially lethal voltages, and posters or others ought not to have to constantly include safety reminders in maybe every other post, as they would need to, given that this thread is no more hazardous than many, so where would we draw the line? My view is that the line has already been drawn by Rule 5.

I'd reiterate that if the consensus of the admin team is that users of the forum might not read the rules, and might also be careless, incompetent and have little regard for their own safety, then as I suggested, maybe a reminder should be placed at the top of the forum page as well as in the rules. I'd also suggest that any individuals who fit that description are in the wrong hobby and have no place here.

As to the length of my post, don't read too much into that. basically, I'm a windbag who too often could bore for Europe - the sort of guy I least like to find myself sat next to on train!

And for the avoidance of doubt, I'm just a member here - not a 'roost ruler', so I don't expect my views to prevail over anyone's else's.
