The warm whites that I've got are all but indistiguishable from halogens. Cool white is a very cold light, I've seen it in a couple of kitchens and would agree with Alan's SWMBO in those cases.
The spectrum of LEDs is prone to be somewhat gappy, regardless of the apparent colour. With lower quality LEDs all bets are off.
