I think that the days of the 6L6 and 807 are long gone for the majority of Hams, It will be Fets and Bjts. It's only the Old Fogies (myself included) that will be mucking around keeping the filaments hot and glowing. When I go, I guess that all my "Junk" will go to the tip. Some months ago I sold a Telefunken radio to a lad here in his 20s who said that this would be his 2nd valve radio. Maybe there is some hope after all. There is a dutch guy here who sort of collects and sells valve radios but he cannot repair them. Certainly in 20yrs time there will be very few around that can sort these dinosaurs out.
