Don't know much about the physics, or is it atomics, but I cant see a pole on a field coil speaker ever being able to hold the magnetism to become a PM speaker Lawrence.
It's one of the wonders of the Philips engineers that they could make PM speakers, with good enough material, back in the early 30's (I have 2, SI from 34) that are still good to this day. I don't think any other company could do it anywhere in the world. The US couldn't as far as I know.
