I bought a HUGE box of those storage boxes that clip onto louvred metal panels - they were good condition but ex-storeroom and very grubby. About 500 of them for 30 quid delivered (HUGE box).
Secretly, over about a week, I loaded the dishwasher with about 50 at a time - they came out like new.
I then bought some packs of 1000 of re-seal-able small plastic bags which have a writing panel on them - very cheap - about 8 quid/1000.
All small components now resides in those - a wall of labelled trays each with dozens of plastic bags...
Bigger stuff, like heat sinks, meters, valve bases, bigger capacitors etc. live in neat stacks of strong plain white cardboard postage boxes - the ones that come flat and you just fold them into shape - came in a pack of 50.
Bigger stuff lives in "Really Useful" boxes - can't recommend these highly enough - buy them online for a good saving over the high-street price.
Pretty cheap, fast to access & to see what's there, stays clean... what's not to like?
