Just to say again that on the wooden windows (Magnet Joinery) that we originally fitted about 4 years ago the bottom of the DG unit is spaced off the bottom of the frame with spacers, as is the bottom glazing bead, the nature of the bead means that no rain can blow into that gap but any water that might happen to find it's way down to the bottom of the DG unit ie: between beads and putty or between putty and DG unit, will free drain to the outside, most of their windows were made that way. Hence the rebates need to waterproofed by a paint system/varnish or whatever before the DG units are sealed in.
I am of the opinion that when DG units eventually "blow" then that's the end, anything else is like re arranging deckchairs on the Titanic.
