As Jeffrey says its not YET possible to have speed control via an inverter using a single phase motor. Single phase multi speed, pole changing motors are rare and expensive. I suggest you get an inverter and a 3 phase motor,the change over is not difficultI have an inverters on my mill,drill and lathe all pre owned as the car sales man says, bought from David's and Colin's monthly meeting place, Rufforth several years ago. Secondhand three phase motors are available, no need to buy new ones as so many dealers says. Three phase motors are smoother running, cheaper the single phase and are more reliable. No burnt out start windings or faulty switches with them. Ted
