Would a Pentode with the Suppressor Grid strapped to the Anode work? Of course you'd need one where you could do that.

Alan, from what I can gather the Dynatron fell out of favour to the Transitron ie: -ve on the suppressor as the tetrodes of the day were not to reliable in the Dynatron arrangement.
