Really nice job Dennis.
Not my field but I may have to get involved with a home made one !! It belongs to a toolmaker friend who has done lathe jobs for me for old radios ... so I owe him !!
The clock was made by his father and is a pendulum device in a wooden case. Its crude inside as I remember seeing it some time ago. Momentum is kept going by electromagnet coils switched by contacts from an old PO relay. My involvement so far has been to check the coils and clean and measure the contacts.
He has looked into the friction of the moving parts and that he reckons is fine. The problem is either non-running or short battery life possibly as I have told him from the crude contacts remaining closed for too long.
I was interested that your have transistors... I was contemplating converting it to use magnetic reed switches but didn't think I would need to add semiconductors. The strange thing is that he reckons it ran fine and trouble free for years and it was made when he was a schoolboy and he's now 84.
When I get it I will take some pics and may be you can help me out with some ideas.
thanks if that is possible Gary
