The frame was then bolted to the baseplate.
The transit screw was released and the pointer sticking up from the base was aligned to that on the bottom of the pendulum by adjusting the pair of leveling screws. The pendulum was swung carefully, and the positions of the pair of coil formers adjusted so that the magnet passed through both with equal clearances. The coil formers were then bolted firmly to the framework.
The coil connections were made carefully, and checked with a resistance meter. The covers were then fitted to the coil formers.
A 1.5V battery was temporarily connected and the pendulum started. first time lucky.... no adjustment of the contacts was necessary.
Now everything was working, the dial and hands could be fitted. The clock runs well, but timekeeping will need to be adjusted by screwing the pendulum weight either up or down the rod. These clocks are very accurate, once correctly adjusted.
The pictures show the mechanism under test and after fitting the dial and hands. All that is needed is the correct glass dome.... wonder where can I find one with a 165mm diameter.... ?
