Is it working as a sine wave inverter or something else?
To me so far it is looking like a square wave into a tuned sine wave coil.
Reduced gate resistor values talk of square wave drive when they reduce overall power consumption.
Heat sink temperature would tell a few tales too if it can be monitored.
