These Skoda jokes remind me of when I first started my railway career back in 87. We had just taken delivery of brand new Class 90 locomotives but their reliability was suspect to say the least so they got dubbed Skoda's whilst the DVTs (Driving Van Trailers) were dubbed Skoda Estates. The 91s on the East Coast were just as bad and were either dubbed Lada's or s**tbeetles. It didn't bode well for a class when a couple of the manufacturers of various systems (like the WSP radar control modules for example) went bust within the first year of operation, and their products were non too reliable either.
A twist on this, chap came back from an eastern European holiday with a spoof missive from the Skoda works enquiring why we were calling their cars Class 90s!
