Very smart refinish, David. I've always liked the small Pilot sets, right from the 1939 start. I too have a post-war 'Little Maestro' (this one dating from c.1946) which came to me spray-painted by the makers. I forget the colour but I suspect it was green. However, and to be expected, it was in a very scruffy state. I stripped the paint off to find pristine mottled Bakelite beneath, so a good polish finished the job off nicely.
